Exchange H4TTO in Weert
Monday March 19th our guests from the Alternatív Közgazdasági Gimnázium in Budapest arrived.
After some introduction games the Dutch students offered their guests some typically Dutch treats to accompany their presentations about Dutch customs. As the Hungarian students started their journey in the middle of the night they were pretty exhausted and happy to go home with their hosts.
On Tuesday morning we left school by bus and headed for Maastricht with our Hungarian guests. First we visited the limestone caves in the St. Pietersberg. We were divided into two groups of students with a guide and we had an interesting tour and learnt a lot about the excavations and the history of the caves. At the end we had a rather exciting, scary experience when we had to turn off the lights and walk the last few meters in total darkness. Fortunately we all made it out alive.
After this the bus took us to the city centre where we had lunch at a restaurant on the Onze Lieve Vrouwenplein. With renewed energy we then walked a short distance to the starting point of the GPS city tour organized by Wave Events – City Games. The students were divided into teams and had to compete with one another by following guidelines and at certain points took part in fun, crazy photo activities. The winning team (Raf, Abdullah, Jasper and guests) received a prize and medals for their resounding victory.
Wednesday morning we started with some revision on interview techniques to prepare us for the visit of the students from the AZC. Together with our Hungarian guests we interviewed the refugee students in small groups. This was a part of the Global Perspectives assignment we finished in the afternoon.
After the break we treated our guests on a special PE lesson put together by ourselves. We all like that subject!
In the evening we visited the Munttheater to experience the Muziekgala in which all the LVO schools from Weert participate.
Thursday was another school day that started with a very lively English lesson. That was CLIL all over! The presentations of the GP assignment went well end the last lesson was an arts lesson so we could also demonstrate our artistic abilities,
Friday morning at 10:45 we accompanied our guests to the railway station and said goodbye for a fortnight, because in April we will visit them in Budapest.
