This year the school round of the annual Junior Speaking Contest for bilingual students was held at The College Weert. The winners of the four participating groups (P-H2E, P-V3C, C-A2A and C-G2B) presented their speech to an audience of classmates, teachers and jury (Ms Sarah Neijnens, Mr Abdullah Sarai and Ms Sinéad Hennesy).

This year’s theme ‘Crossing Cultural borders’ resulted in speeches about all kinds of cultural differences like eating habits, differences between generations or between men and women, different values, ways of living etc. After having given their well-prepared speech, the contestants were asked a few questions by the members of the jury.


The winners Sander Alvarez (P-H2E) and Tim Dings (P-V3C) will represent the TTO-department of LVO Weert (Philips van Horne and College) on March 12th in Venlo.
