V3C makes four-day trip to Liverpool. This trip was organized by trainee Sarah Neijnens who grew up in the birthplace of the Beatles.

A report: From 12 to 15 May V3C visited the lovely city of Liverpool. A city that in 2008 was voted capital of culture and that this year was voted third in the top 10 cities you must see. And this is what V3C did.

After having left our luggage at the hostel we visited the homes of The Beatles on the Magical Mystery Tour, the Museum of Liverpool on the docks and the Poundshops.

On Tuesday we visited a secondary school in Bootle that The Philips van Horne has contact with: Hill Side High. We were met at the Hostel by a huge bus that took us to the school. There we were greeted by the receptionist and some other teachers. We were then lead to the library to meet one of their classes and given some good activities to get to know each other. After a busy morning at the school we saw one of Liverpool’s most impressive buildings: St. George’s Hall.
Later that day we went for a meal at an Indian restaurant. Something not many students had tried before, but they all very much enjoyed.

Wednesday came too quickly, and we were already halfway through the trip. Our breakfast was early, like all other days and the weather was lovely. Perfect for a day out and about. First of all we went to the Old dock and the slavery-maritime museum. Though the old dock was interesting, V3C seemed more interested in the strong scouse accent the tour guide had. After having had out Fish and Chips dinner the group split into two separate groups. One went to Anfield, home of Liverpool FC. The other groupd spent a day in the Library of Liverpool, some museums and the shops. Later that night we all went on a Shiverpool ghost tour, which gave us more shivers than we’d bargained for!

Thursday morning in Liverpool is best described in two words: Primark and Poundshops. After having bought and seen all the last sights we left for the Airport, boarded the plane and flew back to The Netherlands.

Liverpool is a most beautiful city, a friendly, heart-warming place where everybody can feel at home. Well worth a visit, or two, three, or four…!
