During a festive ceremony 64 students received an extra diploma for the three different exams only TTO students can take. The 21 bilingual students of last year’s TTO HAVO 3 received their Anglia Certificate, The 21 students of last year’s HAVO 4 TTO received their Cambridge Global Perspectives certificate, and the third group consists of 7 students of last year’s HAVO 5 TTO and 14 students of last year’s VWO 6 who received their International Baccalaureate diploma. These certificates are accepted worldwide and demonstrate competence in the English language on an internationally acknowledged level.
After three years of bilingual education our students sat their Anglia exam in June. The areas that were tested in this exam are listening, reading and writing.
During the 4th year of bilingual education our students take the extra subject Global Perspectives. This is a groundbreaking and stimulating course that stretches across traditional subject boundaries and develops transferable skills. It is both cross-curricular and skills-based and taps into the way learners of today enjoy learning, including team work and presentations. The emphasis is on developing the ability to think critically about a range of global issues where there is always more than one point of view.
The last years of their secondary education TTO students can take the English curriculum that leads to an International Bccalaureate exam. As the IB's mission in action, the learner profile concisely describes the aspirations of a global community that shares the values underlying the IB's educational philosophy. The IB learner profile describes the attributes and outcomes of education for international-mindedness. IB learners strive to be: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, risk-takers, balanced, reflective.
Either their mentor or teacher of last year took us through the programme of the specific subject and included some personal memories. Also the special activities in which these students took part, like trips, exchanges and celebrations were highlighted. The evening was concluded by a speech of the director of our school and a lively performance on the piano.
