The Regional Round of the Junior Speaking Contest was held at the Metameer School in Stevensbeek on the 26 February 2015. The 4 school finalists from Het College and Philips van Horne schools - Lotte van Helmond(A3E), Huib Baetsen(A2G), Wissal Mephtah (H2G)and Aase Wip(H3E) - all gave excellent speeches amongst tough competition. There were 17 contestants in total; the standard of speaking was very high and the topics were quite varied. After all the judging was done and all the questions were answered, the jury gave its final verdict. We are very proud to announce that Wissal Mephtah, from the Philips van Horne school, was chosen as the winner of the second year students and she will go on to the Grand Final in Amersfoort on the 15 April 2015. There she will compete against all the other regional finalists from all over the Netherlands. We wish her the very best of luck and hope that we will be able to send a group of supporters to accompany her and to cheer her on. To all the speakers I want to say very well done! It certainly is not easy to give a speech in front of so many people and they all did an amazing job.
